University of Minho, June 20-21, 2014, Braga-Portugal

The International Conference “Gender in focus: (new) trends in media” took place on June 20-21, 2014, at the University of Minho, in Braga, Portugal.
Having been organized by the research team of the project “Gender in focus: social representations in Portuguese generalist newsmagazines” (CECS/FCT), this conference aimed to serve as a forum to discuss ideas and share experiences on gender and media.
The GF 2014 Conference had 24 parallel sessions around well-defined topics and a poster discussion. Keynote speakers included António Fernando Cascais (New University of Lisbon, Portugal), Carolyn Byerly (Howard University, USA), Cláudia Álvares (Lusophone University, Portugal), Karen Ross (Northumbria University, UK) and Maria João Silveirinha (University of Coimbra, Portugal).
