QuatroQuatroDois will be no longer published

The sports magazine QuatroQuatroDois will no longer have a Portuguese edition, after 11 months of publication.

The monthly magazine, specialized in football issues, arrives this month at the newsstands for the last time. The news was announced through the magazine’s Facebook page, in which it is justified the decision with the sales decrease: “Despite all the efforts of the team that in the past months have shown the best stories in the world of football, we noted that it wouldn’t be possible to have sales that could make this project sustainable”. “We would like to thank all of whom have joined us in this journey: to the clubs that always were receptive to our proposes, to the players and the coaches that every month shared their life stories and to our community of readers. It was an intense season”, it could be also read in the text.

QuatroQuatroDois is edited in Portugal by Goody and it is the national edition of the world top seller football magazine, FourFourTwo.

A Voz de Trás-os-Montes ends

The regional newspaper ended this Tuesday its publication. It had regular editions since 1943.

A Voz de Trás-os-Montes, based in Vila Real, had an average circulation of 6 thousand copies and had its end in the same day that journalists and other workers received the letters of dismissal. According to Lusa, the document refers that the decision arises from the crisis suffered in the regional press, which was aggravated after a compensation to be paid to a former worker, whom won a lawsuit.

Magazine Empire Portugal will be closed

The cinema magazine Empire Portugal came to an end after three years of existence. Thus, the Portuguese media market no longer will have a publication exclusively dedicated to the Seventh Art.

The news was published by the magazine itself through its Facebook page. The statement says that “This will be the last Empire Portugal that will be published. Unfortunately, it was not possible to resist to the erosion of the market and the commercial investment”. This cinema magazine was the only one in the Portuguese press after the closure of Time Out Portugal and Premiere, in January of 2012.

O Crime suspends publication

The newspaper’s O Crime was suspended. The last edition came out to the stalls on 5 February.

The director of the weekly, Miguel Curado, communicated by e-mail to reporters that the publication “would be suspended indefinitely and will undergo a deep restructuring.” With regard to late payments, these will also be put into day, despite “Do not talk about deadlines,” he wrote.

O Crime, about 30 years, was founded by Vera Lagoa, pseudonym of Maria Armanda Pires Falcão, who was also director of the newspapers O Sol and O Diabo, both from 1976.

‘Libération ‘ may stop print version

The headline of the newspaper, on February 8, journalists dispute the owners ‘ plans to transform the ‘ Libé ‘ on a social network , and its headquarters in a space for culture and debate . It reads: “We are a newspaper , not a restaurant , not a social network , not a cultural space, not a television studio , not a bar , not an incubator for start-up … ”

This editorial was the response of workers in the Parisian daily plans of the owners to try to resolve a serious financial crisis (loss of over one million euros in 2013 , accumulated debt of six million ) and sales (down over 15 % in first 11 months of last year , and below 100 thousand copies in November ) that affect this title established in 1973 by the philosopher Jean -Paul Sartre as a newspaper fighting Maoist left without shareholders or advertising , and they celebrated 40 years of life in 2013 .

Jornal Sénior ends publication

The last edition of Jornal Sénior was launched in the past 15 January, nine months after commenced business.

In declarations to the national newspaper “Público”, Mário Zambujal, director of Jornal Sénior, explain that “is a question of financial sustainability”, stating that would be needed  more two or three  years for the project become viable.

Was a biweekly periodicity newspaper and had the cover price of 95 cents.
