Portuguese Newspaper sales continue to fall

CMAccording to the latest data from the Portuguese Association for the Control of Circulation and Runs (APCT), newspaper sales continue to decline.

Correio da Manhã continues to be the best selling among the newspapers that are audited by APCT, the second place belongs to the weekly Expresso.

Among the generalist dailies, the newspaper with less readers loses is Diário de Notícias. The largest drop in sales was recorded in the weekly Sol.

In the sports segment continues to be led by the newspaper Record (A Bola is not audited by APCT), whereas in the economic segment – a segment that seemed able to withstand the crisis, but ended up giving in to falling sales – Jornal de Negócios is indicated as the leader although OJE, running in a “low-cost” model, is the real leader of the segment.

New monthly magazine Four Four Two

quatro_quatro_dois_revista_futebol_portugal_goody_mourinhoThe publisher Goody is responsible for the Portuguese version of the football magazine Four Four Two. The Portuguese version will have a monthly periodicity and the first number is for the month of November.

Four Four Two, which in its original version is the best-selling football magazine in the world, promises “unique articles of high quality editorial with photographic record high level.”

Goody was already responsible for the magazines BGamer, TopGear, Empire and T3.

Portuguese press backs in the first semester

According to the APCT bulletin for the first half of the year, the scenario of decline in sales seen in the general and economic press, remains. Although not significant in most titles, the breaks in the number of printed copies sold per issue, compared to the first six months of 2012, are a reality.Contrarily, the online paid editions are increasing, although the numbers are still quite far from contributing so they can be considered a strong alternative to paper editions.

New magazine Nau XXI

421357_358396860949389_2009779861_nThe new magazine Nau XXI  is a monthly publication dedicated to maritime affairs in its various aspects (economy, politics, science, environment, architecture, tourism, travel, fashion, beauty, art, culture, lifestyle, food and sport). The first issue has 128 pages and a 16 pages notebook with a selection of articles in English. The cover price is 5 euros.

New health newspaper

The newspaper has national distribution and kicks off with a circulation of 30 000 copies in the first issue. The publication also has online presence, and the newspaper will be distributed in primary health units, as well as pharmacies and municipalities on the mainland and on the island of Madeira, and is still available in health centers, family health units, medical societies and patient organizations, professional associations, small businesses and schools, and aims to “stimulate the reaction of the population to disease prevention and primary care and secondary health care.” The responsibility of the project is the publisher Smedics.

New magazine about motorcycle travel

capa_TREVLThe publisher Fast Lane will launch Trevl, a biannual magazine specialized in bike travels. The new publication is directed by José Bragança Pinheiro. “The segment of the motorcycle travel has been growing throughout the world. In Portugal, there are countless adventures to tell that there is, perhaps for the restless nature of our people”, says the publisher. The new magazine has a cover price of 3.90 euros.
