Felisbela Lopes is an Assistant Professor in the Communication Sciences Department at the University of Minho, where she started as an intern-assistant in 1995. She is graduated in Portuguese-French and has also worked as a journalist, being a lecturer, at the moment, in the same University in the areas of Journalism and Television Studies. In this institution, she has also held the chair of Director of the First Cycle of the Communication Sciences Degree (2007/2008), Director of the Communication Sciences Degree (2006/2007) and Deputy Director of the Communication Sciences Department (2005/2006) and currently integrates the rectoral team of the University.

Felisbela Lopes is a researcher at the Communication and Society Research Centre (CSRC) and her interests range from Journalism, Television Studies and Sources of Information to Health Communication. She is involved in different collective research projects, namely “Mediascópio”, which analyses the media landscape and media trends in Portugal, and “Os 50 anos do Telejornal”, which is under her coordination together with the public service broadcaster RTP. At the moment, she is the Principal Investigator of two projects in the fields of Health Communication (Disease in the News) and Television Studies and Citizenship. Amongst her work is the authorship of the following books: “A TV do Real” (2008), “A TV das Elites” (2007), “A TV do Futebol” (coordination; 2006), and “O Telejornal e o Serviço Público” (1999).
