Venzuela: Chavez praises distribution policy of the Canaima computers

Almost three years after the distribution of the Magalhães computers in Venezuela (locally known as Canaima), the president Hugo Chávez has publicly thanked for the support of the Portuguese government in the implementation of new technologies in Venezuelan primary schools.

According to the newspaper, Público,  Hugo Chávez stresses that the country have received “the best messages from the Portuguese government” and promises to continue to work with Portugal in order to build a new factory, at the old place of the Air Force, for the assembly of Canaima computers in Venezuela.

In a public speech on the balance sheet of the year 2011, at the Venezuelan Parliament, Chávez explained that “in 2009 were delivered 107,593 laptops for children, 721,810 in 2010 and934,688 in 2011,” says the newspaper.
