Starting tomorrow, will be presented to the public the results of the project “Navigating with Magalhães: Study on the impact of digital media on children” under the 2nd Congress on Literacy, Media and Citizenship (LMC 2013) at the Pavilion of Knowledge in Lisbon.
On Friday, May 10 at 14h30, the member of the research team, Luís Pereira will present a communication on “The computer Magalhães as a learning tool or platform to play – visions from the decision makers vs uses of children”. At the same session the coordinator of the Project, Sara Pereira, together with the Research Fellow, Ana Melro, will present “The Magalhães computer in the family context: uses and meanings in the perspective of parents”.
On the last day of the conference, Saturday, May 11 at 10h00 am, will be released the results of tasks performed throughout the Research Project in a presentation entitled “Navigating with Magalhães: What impact?”.
The Principal Investigator, Sara Pereira, will present the data resulting from the analysis of official policy documents and press reports, the analysis of interviews with policy makers and questionnaires applied to students, parents and teachers from the schools of the 1st cycle of basic education of the municipality of Braga.
At the plenary session, the consultants of the Project, Evelyne Bevort (CLEMI)
José Manuel Pérez Tornero (Autonomous University of Barcelona) and Manuel Pinto (University of Minho) will also be present to comment on the results.
