In a visit to the School André de Gouveia, in Évora, the current Minister of Education and Science, Nuno Crato, helped the students to build a manufactured sundial which he called “a Magalhães of the past”.
According to Correio da Manhã, the minister has said that the sundial “is cheap” and that it just require the “tiles, a bit of chalk, cement and time”. Quoting the newspaper, in a lesson to the students about the shadow projection, Crato has used irony to explain that “there are many sciences that can be learned and this is a fun way to talk about these issues.”
