The seminar addresses the concepts of time and temporality. Time and temporality are both structuring elements of human and social experience. Today, common sense and scientific analysis seem to converge claiming the increase of speed, multiplicity and simultaneity of time and temporalities. But what is the atual sense of temporal processes? What’s is really new in contemporary societies and their time schemes? How do institutions respond to temporal transformations? What does time and temporality have to offer to research in social sciences and humanities?

These are some of the issues that will be discussed during the seminar that brings together researchers interested in the debate about time, rhythm and social temporalities.

The final programme is already completed.

The seminar is organized in sala de atos (room), at the Institute of Social Sciences.

An e-book will be organized based on the oral communications.

The organizing committee welcomes all participants, and guests.

This seminar is organized by the Research Centre in Studies of Communication (CECS) and Society and by the Research Center in Social Sciences (CICS) with the collaboration of the Portuguese Association for the Study of Time and Society and NECSUM.
