The research project “Memories, cultures and identities: how the past weights on the present-day intercultural relations in Mozambique and Portugal?” is based at Communication and Society Research Centre (CECS, University of Minho, Portugal) and Eduardo Mondlane University (Mozambique). Supported within the scope of the “Knowledge for Development Initiative” by Aga Khan Development Network and the FCT – Foundation for Science and Technology, IP (no. 333162622).
This project aims to enrich understanding of cultural, economic history and social representations in Mozambique and Portugal by collecting, preserving and analysing narratives conveyed by museum’s colections, history textbooks and cinema. It also intends to give voice to young people from secondary school, enganging them in activities of reflection, reinterpretation and recreation of narratives about past and present-day intercultural relations.
A multidisciplinary team of researchers from several universities in Portugal and Mozambique, as well as the University of Minho (PT) and Eduardo Mondlane University (MZ), collaborates with the project: Escola Superior de Jornalismo (MZ), ISARC – Higher Institute of Art and Culture (MZ), Instituto Superior Monitor (MZ), Universidade Autónoma de Lisboa (PT), University of Beira Interior (PT), Universidade Lusófona do Porto (PT), ISPU – Universidade Politécnica (MZ) and University of Zambezi (MZ).
